Ir Adjunct Prof MC Hee
Dip CE, FRMIT, BE (Civil), M. Eng. Sc., FIEM, MIE Aust., MACI, P.Eng. Registered Structural Accredited Checker

MC Hee Ir. MC Hee is a practicing Structural Consulting Engineer and Principal of M C Hee & Associates.  He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (BE) and Master of Engineering Science (M.Eng.Sc.) from  The University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. His expertise is in the design and  construction of high-rise buildings particularly in value engineering and alternative design. His  philosophy is “design for simplicity and buildability” with a “total concept approach”.

 He has over 40 years’ of experience in this field. His major overseas projects include the 68-storey  MLC tower, 40-storey CML building in Sydney and 42-storey at 530, Collins St in Melbourne. In  Malaysia, thenumber of high rise buildings he has embarked on is numerous, some of which are  the 39-storey Core Project and 25-storey Plaza Perangsang in Shah Alam, 43-storey Mount Kiara Condominium, 28-storey Desa Parker Condominium, 25-storey Arab Malaysian Bank in Kuala Lumpur and the 4 high tower blocks of condominium ranging from 20 to 28 story in Sentul.

In addition he is well versed in computer modeling of high-rise buildings and his current interest is in strut and tie applications in the field of structural engineering particularly transfer girders and deep beams. He is a strong advocate of manual check methods such as 2-cycle moment distribution and qualitative analysis on load response by sketching the deflected shapes and drawing the bending moment diagrams.

Ir. Adjunct Prof. MC Hee is active in contributing to the engineering society. He is a registered accredited structural checker in BEM and highly regarded in the investigation committee. Some of his other activities include being the Vice President of IEM from 2009 to 2011, Chairman for drafting the Malaysian National Annex of EC0, EC1, EC2 and active member of Technical Committee drafting the Malaysian National Annex of EC8. Ir. Adjunct Prof. MC Hee has also conducted other intensive courses such as Design to BS8110, Eurocodes EC0, EC1 & EC2, Finite Element Modelling of Deep Beams and Raft Foundation and Analysis and Design to EC8.


 

Ir Dr Gue See Sew

Gue See Sew Ir. Dr. Gue See Sew graduated from three universities; Diploma in Civil Engineering from  Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, First Class (Honours) Degree from University of Strathclyde, UK in  1979 and Doctorate from Oxford University with Kuok Foundation Scholarship.

 He was the President of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) (2001 to 2003), International  Chairman of the Coordinating Committee of APEC Engineer (2001 to 2005, 2007 to 2011), Head  Commissioner of ASEAN Engineers Register (AER) (2003 to May 2007) and Board Member of  Board of Engineers Malaysia (1993 to 1998, 2000 to 2003). He is the Chairman of the Penang  Hillsite Advisory Panel (2011 to 2012).

Ir. Dr. Gue is Founding Fellow of the ASEAN Academy of Engineering & Technology, Fellow of Academy of Sciences Malaysia and the Representative of the World Federation of Engineering Organisations (WFEO) to the International Consortium on Landslides.

Ir. Dr. Gue holds an Honorary Doctorate in Science (2006) from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland and was awarded The Construction Professional of the Year Award at the Malaysian Construction Industry Excellence Awards 2006, the ASEAN outstanding Engineering Award at the Conference of ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations 2007 and Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP) Engineer of the Year 2010.

Ir. Dr. Gue is now the Managing Director of G&P Geotechnics Sdn Bhd, a geotechnical consulting firm and Chief Executive Officer of G&P Professionals Sdn Bhd, a one-stop engineering specialist consultancy group with a staff strength of 250.

He has presented 221 lectures on Geotechnical Engineering. He has also published 108 Technical Papers related to geotechnical engineering in various conferences and seminars including a number of keynote addresses, theme and special lectures.


 

Ir Dr Ng Chee Hock
B. Sc. (Civil), M. Sc., Ph. D. (Construction Management)

Ng Chee Hock Ir. Dr. Ng Chee Hock is currently Operations Director of an oil palm plantation and Business  Development Director for an authorized Toyota dealer company dealing in Sales and Service i  inclusive Body and Paint services of Toyota vehicles.

Ir. Dr. Ng obtained his first class honor degree in Civil Engineering at University of trathclyde in  1985 and subsequently in 1996 a Master in Construction Management with distinction at the same  university. His extensive experience and knowledge in Construction Management was further  recognized by University of Malaya in 2004 via a doctorate qualification.

Ir. Dr. Ng has over 25 years’ experience in Project Management. He had been holding senior positions for more than 10 years at various divisions in the Department of Irrigation and Drainage Malaysia (JPS). He started his career as an Engineer in the field of drainage & hydraulic design, supervision of construction, drainage scheme for land reclamation, urban drainage, and contract management. He was later promoted to the Principal Assistant Director for Flood Mitigation Project, and later Senior Principal Assistant Director for the Division of Project Management. His last engagement with JPS was the Senior Principal Assistant Director for the Division of Design and Dam.

His expertise includes in-depth knowledge and experience in project planning, budgeting, procurement, implementation,
monitoring, controlling and auditing; embraced with quality assurance and environmental management.


 

Dr Tan Sing Leng
B. Sc. (Mathematics), M. Sc. (Mathematics), Ph. D. (Mathematics)

Tan Sing Leng Dr. Tan Sing Leng is a distinguished intellect in the academic world, and a pronoun  Mathematician. He obtained his first degree in Mathematics at National Taiwan University in 1966  and subsequently in 1969 a Master in Mathematics at Ottawa University in Canada, with the thesis  entitled “Some Characterizations of Duality in B*-algebras”. He moved on with the challenge of  obtaining a Doctorate qualification in the United States of America.In 1974, he graduated with the  Department of Mathematics, University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, U.S.A. with a thesis  entitled “Nullity and Generalized Characteristic Classes of Differential Manifolds”. His  achievement was recognized with Fellow award from the university.

 Dr. Tan has ever since indulged himself in the education sector for over 38 years.  He spent 24 years in the University of Malaya, the most prestigious university at that time, as lecturer and Associate Professor, teaching many of the successful graduates both in Mathematics and Engineering faculties. In fact he was the respected lecturer of ours, all the Directors in Applied Technology Group during our first two years in the Engineering Faculty.

In 1999, he joined Multimedia University, which was newly established, as Associate Professor and his joint effort with a team of academicians had successfully built up the quality and image of the university. He was appointed as Vice President of the university in 2006.  Dr. Tan was then much sought after by many universities and finally in 2008, he decided to join University Tunku Abdul Rahman as his obligation to contribute to a university which is operated by the Malaysian Chinese. He is currently the Associate Professor as well as the Director of the Division of Community and International Networking in the university.

Dr. Tan’s contribution to the academic world is impeccable.His extensive knowledge and continuous research in this field has enabled us to maintain the quality of Malaysia tertiary education, as well as produce quality and competitive graduates.


 

Ir Frankie Chong
BSc (Hons), MBA, P.Eng., MIEM, PMP®

Frankie Chong Ir. Frankie Chong, professional engineer, certified PMP®, writer, speaker, founder and Principal  Consultant of ASK Consulting, a strategic consultancy and training firm, has more than 30 years of  experience in leading and managing many large and small projects, in various industries such as  engineering, telecommunication, construction, IT, education, military and finance. Among his  many successful achievements, Frankie was instrumental in:

 

1. Developing and implementing multiple nation-wide multi-million dollar engineering,  telecommunication infrastructure and construction projects.
